A few months ago – when the whole world was different – I had contemplated going back to getting my nails done. But, in true Jess fashion, I kept procrastinating. In hindsight, perhaps it is better, as I was able to sideline that whole disaster of trying to figure out a way to remove them without a salon. Yikes. No fun.
I have experimented with a few different kinds of press-on nails with varied results. Usually, I get frustrated because the nails are so large that I have to file/trim down a lot and sometimes it is almost impossible. Some just will not file the way I want. That said, the only ones I have real issues with are the impress nails… The kind that have the adhesive already on them. They destroyed my nails last time I tried to wear them. Never again! I do really love the Kiss kind as they have a petite size, which I appreciate as my nails are really small and most press are laughably too large for my fingers.
While looking for some new press-ons, I had seen a lot of advertisements for Static Nails and found myself drawn to a lot of their colors. They do also sell nail polish, apparently. However, for the purposes of today, I wanted to gush a bit about their press-ons with the caveat that I have only been wearing them for a day (so this is a very early impression).
SELECTION: Of course, this is a matter of taste, but I personally love that they have so many neutral options in a variety of shapes including round, square, coffin, stiletto, and almond. That said, I suppose I do wish there were some good darker options. However, we are going into spring and I am unsure how often they change up their options. Perhaps the fall season would bring more of those. I personally chose the Mademoiselle coffin and Nearly Nylon almond. I started with the coffin shape and enjoy it, but I will get into that later.
APPLICATION: I must say, these might be the easiest nails to apply. Of course, I over-glued a few and a couple might be crooked…which is the fault of the person holding the nails rather than the product itself. There is a bit of a learning curve and I did much better on the second hand. You should definitely take the instructions recommendation to wait for 6 seconds with the glue on before applying. It really, REALLY helped.
SHAPING: Here’s my beef with most press-on nails – and I mentioned it above – some are darned near impossible to reshape. That is NOT the case with these. They reshaped beautifully…even for me. And I have NEVER been able to reshape nails before. In fact, I’m not all that great at filing my real nails. This alone may make these a worthwhile repurchase for me.
PRICE: Most of the sets are $14 with some being $16. Although keep in mind you may have to pay for shipping (which took a fair amount of time; however, given the current complications I’m not sure how normal that is). For me, I don’t find that a terrible price, as long as they stay on for more than a couple of days. Particularly if I get two or three weeks of use out of them I find that phenomenal!
Unfortunately, I cannot speak for the wear time just yet as they have only been on for a day. Perhaps I will throw up a small update in a few weeks.
Overall, it is probably obvious my first impression is that these are phenomenal! They are comfortable to wear, feel thin (in a good way), and were ridiculously easy to reshape. As long as they last a fair amount of time, I will continue to get more! I promise more updates as time progresses.
Until next time, be kind and have a great day!
