Glow Getter Moisturizer!

Moisturizer is a product that has always seemed a bit complicated to me. It is only made more so by the fact that I have moderately oily skin, although this has lessened with (I assume) age and difference in products. I have also limited my usage of those “strip your skin” cleansers, which I’m beginning to think made my oil situation worse. But that is a conversation for a different blog post. The topic on the table for this one is an amazing discovery I happened upon following all of those “Best of the Year” videos floating around on YouTube during this time.

Jessica Braun is quickly becoming one of the YouTubers I look forward to watching the most. She, ironically, lives in my home state of Indiana, which I find fascinating, although was not what drew me to her channel. Originally, she was a beauty channel, but now she is also doing a lot of lifestyle. I enjoy it all.

On a previous recommendation (from who I don’t recall) I was on my second recent container of the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel when she mentioned the Shea Moisture Glow Getter Moisturizer. I didn’t find myself overwhelmingly in love with it. There is quite a bit of fragrance in it, which did bother me quite a bit. Additionally, I did also get a few of these little textured bumps on my face. So I figured, why not try this new one.

Initially, I was somewhat concerned because I do have a somewhat oily face – although it is not to the point that it was previously. That said, we are also in the midst of an Indiana winter. It will be interesting to see how my opinion changes once we enter the humid summer part of life. I am also coming to a point in life where I am coming to terms with my oily skin. It could be worse. Gotta look on the bright side of life.

I will say, this is a real wet-looking moisturizer but in a flattering way. (I hope, anyway.) It has not broken me out, at all. In fact, the little bumps I got with the Neutrogena went away once I started using this one. It feels so nice and plays well with multiple foundations. Side note: My favorite foundation is the L’Oreal Fresh Wear these days and I have also taken to putting on my concealer first. It is easier for me to blend that way.

In regards to size, I was concerned because the packaging looked so small compared to Neutrogena. However, I was pleased to find that the Shea Moisture actually has more in it at 2.7 oz; whereas the Neutrogena only has 2 oz. Score!

Overall, it is a great moisturizer that I would highly recommend if you are searching for something with more dew. It is fantastic. Again, I will try to provide a summer update when the weather is a little different.

Until next time, have a great day and don’t forget to be kind to each other!
