Not long ago I finally ran out of my supply of Harry’s refills. Previously, I received the refills in their subscription service automatically and wound up with oodles. Those lasted for approximately 8 years. Okay, that may be an exaggeration, but it was a long time. I was not particularly impressed by the quality but used them up because I paid for them and honestly I didn’t anticipate it would take so long to get through them.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago when after a shaving episode I suddenly realized it was my last cartridge. Uh oh; off to compare razors I went. Given that I wasn’t terribly impressed with Harry’s, I was not sure I wanted to continue using it. Although, it is easier to come by since they are now available at Target. During this time of information exploration, I kept running across electric razors. I did try them back in the day without much impressive success, but it was a long time ago and I thought I would give it another shot.
After more careful research, I happened across the Panasonic Close Curves razor. It had good reviews and I could just run in to pick it up at Target. So that’s exactly what happened. Despite the online price being $17.99, it was $19.99 in store (which is very irritating, but it’s only a few bucks). I feel like that price will pay for itself, if the razor did a good job. The razor is one of those wet/dry magic contraptions.
Here is a photo:
Fast forward to now, I have only used it one time. I didn’t use it with any kind of shaving gel or foam because I only had a “cream” and it specifically said gel or foam. I didn’t want to risk clogging it up on the first use. However, I am curious to try one next time to see the difference as even without those products it did a swell job. My hair has already grown back because well it comes back ridiculously quickly, and the hairs certainly seemed to grow back slightly softer with the use of this razor or perhaps that’s my imagination.
My initial thoughts about the razor is that it is easy to use and effective. Compared to the Harry’s refills I used before, it gives me a closer shave. However, I am interested to see if that would further improve with a shave gel. I also cannot speak to its charging and/or battery life. I would say give it a try if you are interested in an electric razor in an affordable price range. There may be a follow-up post if anything exciting develops in the next few weeks or so of using it more.
Until next time, have a great day and be kind!
