Here a Box, There a Box

Subscription services are all the rage these days. You can get them for everything from health and beauty products to hobby boxes including books or knitting. There are also ones out there for the kiddos to learn their STEM skills. The Little One might try that out when she is a skosh older.

The basis of today’s information regards the exciting notion of ordering cleaning products. I initially saw this on one of the YouTube channels I subscribe to and I wish I could remember which one it was, but alas that information is gone forever. I must admit that I was skeptical. Why order these online instead of just going to Target? Then, I went wild and decided to try it. Oh my goodness. I am completely in love. I will try to explain why.

  • I don’t like leaving my house unless I have to and even then sometimes I fight it unless it is for funsies. This service brings the cleaning supplies directly to my door, boom, like magic.
  • It makes me want to clean. I have never been one that loves cleaning. I was just never that person…until recently. And this service is partially to blame or should I take a more positive approach and give credit where credit is due? In any event, it has been a great experience.

Grove Collaborative is more like an auto-refill service for cleaning supplies, focusing on those that are the “greener” alternative — meaning fewer chemicals, etc. I began my exploration with those type of products while searching for a product to mop the floor that would pose less risk to my tiny dog that loved to lick all surfaces. On top of that, I also had some issues with many hand soaps giving me a rash on the back of my hands.

Back to the discussion at hand, Grove has a VIP subscription charge of $19.99/year. The thing to watch with the auto shipments is the website automatically adds product to your cart. Not a huge deal, but something you need to be very aware of before the shipment goes out. What they are good at is sending emails that remind you a few days ahead of time when your order is going to go out so there is time to make the appropriate changes.

I believe there is also an option of just ordering products from the website without a paid subscription. Here is the information regarding the paid versus free membership. There are also frequent promotions if you know someone who has a referral code (*clears throat*) and it is easy enough to search for on YouTube.

It is also worth noting that I did have an occasion in which I used customer service and wanted to share that experience. I accidentally ordered the wrong scent in laundry detergent that my own fault. When I contacted customer service about it, they refunded the money and was able to purchase the one I actually wanted. No mess, no fuss. I did not have to return the product either and they recommended to keep it or pass it on to a friend. It ranked up there with one of the best customer service experiences ever with a brand. This was all done via email; I never had to call and speak to anyone.

To sum everything up, for $19.99/year I am able to get my favorite laundry detergent and cleaners sent directly to me. I could not be happy with their customer service and it has made me excited about cleaning which almost makes the subscription (for me anyhow). I am sure you will know pretty quickly whether it is for you or not. For those interested, here is my referral code.

That’s it for today. Until next time, have a great day and be kind!
